Brighton, Ontario – The Brighton Speedway Kiwanis of Trenton Kart Klub was back in action on Thursday night for its 10th night of competition. A total 38 karts were signed in for action around the tight confines of the infield oval. The track held moisture until the very end of a humid night and produced fantastic racing in several divisions.

Box Stock 1

Gordie Miller stole a victory from his brother Gabe Miller on the last lap of the Box Stock 1 feature. The win was Gordie’s second in a row. Colton Lockridge led the opening lap until Gabe took over. It seemed as though the victory was sewn up for Gabe’s No.51, but his brother made a last ditch effort on the final corner and emerged the winner.

Box Stock 1 Results (10 Laps): 1.15 Gordie Miller, 2. 51 Gabe Miller, 3. 5c Colton Lockridge, 4. 1 Coleson Gregory, 5. 20 Callie Bristow.

Box Stock 2

Max McDonald started outside the front row of the Box Stock 2 feature, but quickly jumped to the lead. Polesitter Cooper McKeown kept pace all 10 laps and was right McDonald’s back bumper over the final four laps, but settled for second at the checkered flag ahead of Tyson Cooper. Max led all 10 laps for the victory.

Box Stock 2 Results (10 Laps): 1. 22 Max McDonald, 2. 9 Cooper McKeown, 3. 87jr Tyson Cooper, 4. 71 Trevyn McCrillis, 5. 57 Jacob Down, 6. 01 Tyson Gregory.

Rookie 1

A challenging race for the Rookie 1 division took a couple of tries to get going. Once the field got up to speed, it was Belleville driver Brooklyn Bowers in front of the field. Carson McKee and Jonathan Davidson chased Bowers until the final lap, but couldn’t overcome a four car-length deficit. The victory was Bowers’ third of the season.

Rookie 1 Results (10 Laps): 1. 03 Brooklyn Bowers, 2. 66 Carson McKee, 3. 60 Jonathan Davidson, 4. 99J Jace James, 5. 74 Lexi Lucas, 6. 44 Diego Martin, 7. 48 Ryan Greig.

Rookie 2

Koen O’Hara started on the pole for the Rookie 2 main event and never relinquished the top spot on the way to his second win of the season. The win comes despite a fantastic effort from Nathan Shorts to pass on the outside over multiple laps, but fell just short of the win. Ashton Leclair finished a very close third.

Rookie 2 Results (10 Laps): 1. 83 Koen O’Hara, 2.20 Nathan Shorts, 3. 76 Ashton Leclair, 4. 22 Emma Terpstra.

Junior Sportsman 1

In Junior Sportsman 1 action, Cameron Bristow started on the pole after winning his heat race and like O’Hara never surrendered the point position to earn his third victory of the season. Bristowand Carson Down separated themselves from the rest of the field with a tight battle through the middle of the race. Bristow, however, claimed the victory by a couple of car lengths.

Junior Sportsman 1 Results (15 Laps): 1. 99 Cameron Bristow, 2. 55 Carson Down, 3. 21 James Markland, 4. 92 Keira Turner.

Junior Sportsman 2

The Junior Sportsman 2 drivers didn’t waste any time dicing for position. Third starting Cole McKeown jumped to the early lead out of turn two on the opening lap. Just before the halfway point of the race, Kaitlyn O’Blenis found herself in second after starting at the rear of the field while Chandler Leclair was third ahead of Emily Peterson and Holly Denard. McKeown cruised over the final eight laps to take the victory by a straightaway.

Junior Sportsman 2 Results (15 Laps): 1. 11 Cole McKeown, 2. 23k Kaitlyn O’Blenis, 3. 48 Chandler Leclair, 4. 17e Emily Peterson, 5. 02 Holly Denard.

Junior Restricted

Cole McKeown jumped from one kart in to another to start on the pole of the Junior Restricted feature. He led the opening two laps until a three-wide battle for the top spot saw Nathan Rinaldi out front. Kyle Anderson found his way up to second, but Rinaldi had already opened a full straightaway lead. It was erased, however, by the only caution of the race on lap 12. With the field tightened for a single-file restart, Rinaldi didn’t falter and held down the bottom lane for his fourth victory over Anderson and McKeown.

Junior Restricted Results (15 Laps): 1. 3 Nathan Rinaldi, 2. 17 Kyle Anderson, 3. 11 Cole McKeown, 4. 16 Jordan Burrows, 5. 23 Cole Perry, 6. 16m Michaela Lough, 7. 07 Raiah Lough.
