Hagersville, Ontario – The 24-year-old driver of the No. 32 Can-Am/Kappa Ford Fusion for Go FAS Racing (GFR) officially earns NASCAR Pinty’s Series Championship title. Saturday night September 23rd is now a date to remember as Alex Labbe turns his dream to life when claiming his first NASCAR Pinty’s Series Championship. A dream that came true with five wins, 11 top fives and 12 top 10s to tallying up 542 points.

The Can-Am/Kappa team entered the race aware that his driver would collect the championship title by only taking the green flag and completing one lap. With that weight off their shoulders, nothing could have brought its spirit down.

Although, the No. 32 Can-Am/Kappa Ford Fusion recorded the second-fastest lap in qualifying, a bad luck forced the team to its very first abort after 30 laps completed. “We had a fast Can-Am/Kappa Ford and it’s really unfortunate to be compelled to end our race prematurely,” says Alex Labbé. “However, we have proven our consistency all year with 5 wins and 11 top fives. I am very appreciative for everyone involved in our success, who dedicated their time to us. Of course, we wouldn’t have been able to be that competitive without the precious support from Can-Am, Kappa, Cyclops Gear and Jacombs Racing.”

From a Family Business to a Profession

Labbe climbs to the highest honour in Canadian stock car racing at his second full-time season in the series. Alex’s debut in the series came in 2012 in the No. 36 car supported by his family. Trough ups and downs, they gathered 15 starts in 4 years while also competing in the ACT series with Larue MotorSport and winning the respective championship in 2014.

After combining their effort for certain single event, Alain Lord Mounir signed Alex Labbé in 2016 through its partnership with Can-Am to run all 12th races and collected his first Pinty’s win. With the contract renewal, Alex Labbe was given a second chance at the championship title, a chance that he grabbed fearless.

The team would like to thank its partners Can-Am, Kappa, Cyclops Gear and Lou’s Barbeque for believing in them and bringing the right support. Additionally, all crew members would like to point out the great job of Jacombs Racing for preparing the fastest car every week. Last but not least, Alex and his crew are more than thankful to the fans who support them with passion every day.
