Elmvale, Ontario – Formula Vee driver Matt Garwood had set a variety of goals for himself this past racing season. The first was to achieve as many FV podiums as possible. The second was having a successful 2017 Challenge Cup Series season and he did just that.

Garwood wrapped up his 2017 Challenge Cup Series Championship season one week ago in his #31 Matt Garwood Racing car at Watkins Glen International Raceway where he finished second in the 2017 Challenge Cup Series points.

He faced many up’s and downs throughout the 2017 season but his Matt Garwood Racing team never gave up, fighting for every position and the championship until the last lap of the season.

Hovering at the top in 2017 Challenge Cup Series Championship points for most of the season, the 2015 & 2016 FV Challenge Cup Series Champion knew he couldn’t have had another successful season without the dedicated support from his family, friends, team and sponsors.

“Knowing that we’ve finally got to this point as a team is one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced. I am so thankful for everyone who has helped us along the way. Even though we did not earn a third consecutive championship this summer, our Matt Garwood Racing team gets stronger with each passing season and we are already preparing and looking forward to 2018.” said Garwood.

“I must offer my deepest appreciation to the many individuals who make racing cars a reality; my girlfriend Danielle Davies for never missing a race weekend and for being my Crew Chief all season long, Ray and Katrina Carmody (Carmody Racing) and Rob Murray (RBM Motorsports) for their incredible support and hospitality throughout the entire season.” said Garwood

It truly was a busy summer for the Matt Garwood Racing team traveling across the northern part of the United States hunting for the 2017 Challenge Cup Series Championship.

MGR is proud to represent: Autoglym Canada, Core Evolution Fitness, Leaf Racewear & Safety Equipment Inc, Mobile-Tire.ca, Driven, Driverseat Barrie, and HD Designs.

Garwood is also proud to be "Laps for Muscular Dystrophy" (Laps4MD) driver where he has pledged to donate $1 for every lap he leads to go to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
